The Assistant Editior, Philanthropy works with the Associate Director of Editorial Content to assist the Division of Philanthropy in raising $400+ million annually by supporting in the development of three major donor publications and by driving the compilation, creation, management and deployment of compelling and consistent content and messaging in print and online communications, across the Division. Responsible for assisting the entire Division with reaching financial goals, the position reports to the Associate Director of Editorial Content, Philanthropy Communications. The internal title for this role is Senior Writer, Philanthropy Communications.
The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process which includes completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands-on learning experiences throughout the first calendar year in the role.

This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA each week. DFCI guidelines state that employees must reside in New England: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

Bachelor?s degree in English, science, communications, marketing, or related field required. Three to five years writing and publications or marketing experience in a non-profit, agency, or related industry required. Experience in a Philanthropy/non-profit setting preferred; experience in a health care or other medical or scientific setting also preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills. Must be able to understand and translate complex scientific concepts for a lay audience. Must have excellent listening and interpersonal skills. Must have familiarity with online and social platforms. Must be flexible and able to manage multiple projects with short-term and long-term deadlines simultaneously and on tight timeframes.
