Job Description

Optum is hiring a Primary Care Physician in Colton, California —a family-friendly city in the Inland Empire offering a balanced lifestyle and professional growth.

With affordable housing, quality schools, and safe neighborhoods, Colton is ideal for physicians raising children. The area features parks, community events, and easy access to outdoor recreation in the nearby mountains and lakes. Its central location also puts beaches, Los Angeles, and Palm Springs within reach.

Join a supportive medical team while enjoying a vibrant, well-rounded life in Southern California.

Position Highlights – Your Week, Your Impact.  Step into a role designed for balance, purpose, and meaningful patient care:
  • Work-Life Harmony – Enjoy a consistent Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm schedule with no call and no weekends—your time matters, and we respect it.
  • Focused, Outpatient-Only Care – Deliver high-quality care in a modern outpatient setting, free from hospital rounds or overnight shifts.
  • Diverse Patient Engagement – See a variety of patients across the lifespan, with a focus on adults and seniors who value long-term, trusted care.
  • Manageable Patient Load – With an average daily census of 16-18 patients, you’ll have the time to build relationships and provide thoughtful, personalized care.
  • Thoughtful Scheduling – Appointments are structured for quality: 40 minutes for new patients, 20 minutes for follow-ups—no rushed visits here.
  • Team-Based Support – You’ll be backed by a dedicated team of nurses and medical assistants, so you can focus on what you do best: caring for patients.

Here’s what else you can look forward to:

  • Generous Paid Time Off – Recharge with ample PTO, dedicated CME days, and enjoy nine company-observed holidays when our clinics close so you can truly unplug.
  • Robust Retirement Support – Plan your future with confidence through our 401(k) with company match and access to the UHG Employee Stock Purchase Program.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage – We’ve got you covered with medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long-term disability benefits.
  • Peace of Mind – We provide company-paid medical malpractice insurance, so you can focus on what matters most—your patients.
  • Career Growth & Leadership – Whether you're looking to expand your clinical expertise or step into leadership, we offer ongoing professional development and a clear path to Physician Partnership.
