The selected candidate will assist in developing, planning, and independently performing pollutant and surface water analyses utilizing Flow Injection Analysis (FIA), Ion Chromatography (IC), and Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) in support of CDFW programs, including monitoring activities and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements. Responsibilities include sample preparation and analysis, operation and maintenance of chemical instrumentation, data entry and secondary-level data review, assist in updating standard operating procedures, serving as Laboratory Safety Officer, and managing laboratory supplies, inventory, and ordering. Laboratory and office work involves: standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time in a laboratory setting or at a desk with a computer/keyboard. May involve walking for brief periods. Perform chemical analysis in an analytical laboratory using proper personal protective equipment.
