Histology Lab Technician

Hours: M-F (Overnight Hours)

In this role, you will:

• Under general supervision and according to policies and procedures, performs routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides, for microscopic evaluation by a pathologist(s).
• Capable of performing all of the duties/responsibilities of a Histotechnician.
• Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples.
• Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.
• Ensure proper tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy.
• Perform coverslipping of stained slides either manually or automated.
• Performs recuts requested by a Pathologist.
• Prepare solutions and reagents for stain procedures.
• Perform stains procedures.
• Well experienced in IHC instrumentation and stains.
• Perform filing of finished blocks and slides.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and troubleshooting minor equipment failures. Document remedial actions such as repairs and repeated tests.
• Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, and document all quality control activities.
• Ensure all corporate safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met.
• Ensure compliance with all local, federal, NY State, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
• Responsible for training and cross-training other employees.
• Other duties, as assigned by the supervisor.

We require: 

• · H.S. diploma or equivalency required
• · 1 year of experience in Histology laboratory or Medical Technologist.
• · ASCP Certification (HT/HTL or MS/MLS) strongly preferred
• · NYS licensure required as Histology Technician or Medical Technologist.

What we offer:

Salary: Up to $55.71/hr
