HR Generalist

We are looking for an HR Generalist to join our team, reporting directly to the Vice President of Human Resources. This role involves providing comprehensive HR support for our Washington, DC office. Key responsibilities include employee relations, onboarding, training and development, benefits administration, and recruitment support. This position is vital for fostering an engaged, skilled, and diverse workforce aligned with our mission and values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations : Serve as a primary resource for staff and managers, addressing questions and issues that affect the employee experience.
  • Onboarding : Manage the onboarding process, including preparing and distributing materials, conducting orientations to immerse new employees in our culture, and coordinating training.
  • Training and Development : Work with the HR team to deliver effective learning solutions related to onboarding, benefits, performance management, and other areas to enhance staff capabilities.
  • Benefits Administration : Handle enrollment processes, create and distribute informational materials, maintain records, and conduct presentations for staff.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion : Implement HR initiatives that promote a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Recruitment Support : Assist with administrative tasks for recruitment, including coordinating interviews and maintaining the applicant tracking system, with opportunities to fill entry-level roles.
  • HR Documentation : Oversee new hire documentation in collaboration with the Chicago office.
  • Additional Duties : Perform other HR-related tasks as required.
Qualifications
  • Experience : 2-5 years in Human Resources.
  • Knowledge : Familiarity with federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Project Management : Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency and results orientation.
  • Communication Skills : Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills : Strong customer relations and ability to respond to inquiries promptly.
  • Professionalism : High level of maturity and judgment; capable of handling confidential information discreetly and delivering difficult messages.
  • Technical Proficiency : Skilled in using HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
