Intelligence Analyst
West Chester Township Police
The Position The West Chester Township Police Department is seeking to fill a Police Intelligence Analyst position. The Analyst is responsible for working with police officers and supervisors to solve and prevent crime.
The Analyst’s responsibilities include daily review of criminal investigations, tracking crime trends, recommending enforcement and prevention strategies, assisting detectives and officers with investigations, conducting link analysis, conducting cellphone record analysis, conducting cellphone forensic extractions, performing open source and law enforcement database searches, conducting social media searches preparing presentations, and testifying in court.
A small portion of the Police Intelligence Analysts duties will include providing management statistics and crime analysis support to the Police Command Staff or other police units.
This position is 100% in the office and does not offer remote flexibility. Requirements Required qualifications include: - Must have at least Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Mathematics, Digital Forensics, Public Administration, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Statistical Analysis, Geographic Information Systems, Information Management, or a related field from a nationally recognized, accredited university .
- Must have advanced skills using Office Software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Certifications or academic certificates in crime/ intelligence analysis.
- Must have the ability to secure clearance for using LE databases.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to work afterhours or on weekends occasionally in support of major incidents.
Preferred qualifications include: - Master’s degree in a law enforcement intelligence related field from a nationally recognized, accredited university.
- Advance education, certifications, or extensive experience in the field may be substituted for education and/or experience.
- Experience using cellphone mapping tools such as Cellhawk, CASTViz, and CellHawk, cellphone extraction tools including Cellebrite and GrayKey.
- Ability to review, analyze and document evidence in Cellebrite or Magnet forensic reports.
- Knowledge and experience using law enforcement and public databases such as LEADS, OHLEG, Accurint, Flock, social media accounts, ArcGIS, Magloclen, Central Square or other CAD systems, and Brigade Analytics.
- Experience with Genetec, Ring, Nest, VLC or other security video software to retrieve or transfer video.
- Prior experience with public speaking and testifying in court.
- Experience writing professional law enforcement reports and publications.
- Experience developing relationships with other law enforcement agencies and with private entities.
The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for West Chester Township Police Intelligence Analyst is a self-starter with the ability to operate both independently and as a team member conducting police operational and support activities. The candidate must be able to actively seek opportunities to improve police investigations and operations and provide excellent service to teammates. The candidate must be willing to be a continual learner seeking training and knowledge to keep the Department up to date with advancements in technology and best practices.
A Police Intelligence Analyst must be able to interact with all levels of the organization and the West Chester community. An Intelligence Analyst must have a friendly, team oriented attitude focused on mission accomplishment and the organizational Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated skills in analysis, criminal investigation support, critical thinking, communication, organization, and a proven track record of high personal and professional ethics and integrity.
Compensation The expected hiring range is $65,000-$75,000, depending on qualifications.
