The Role

Lumen offers a fully immersive, 10-week summer internship program. Our interns demonstrate curiosity, innovation, and a passion for advancing technology. The Main Responsibilities

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Internal Communications Intern to join our team for a 10-week program. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in internal communications, develop essential skills, and contribute to creating a positive and engaging workplace culture. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing skills, relationship building capabilities, and presentation skills.

As an Internal Communications Intern, you will:

  • Assist in crafting internal communications: Develop and disseminate engaging and informative content for various internal channels, including newsletters, emails, intranet articles, and social media updates.
  • Support event planning and execution: Help organize and promote internal events, such as town halls, employee recognition programs, and team-building activities.
  • Collaborate with different departments: Work closely with HR, marketing, and other departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Gather and analyze feedback: Collect feedback from employees on internal communications efforts and suggest improvements based on data and insights.
  • Assist with presentations: Create visually appealing and effective presentations for internal meetings and events.
  • Monitor internal communication metrics: Track and report on the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives, including engagement and reach.
  • Research best practices: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in internal communications and make recommendations for continuous improvement.


On a typical day you will:

  • Draft and edit internal communications materials such as emails, newsletters, and intranet articles.
  • Coordinate with team members to gather content and updates for communication materials.
  • Assist in the planning and promotion of internal events and activities.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for internal meetings.
  • Track and analyze engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies.

Program eligibility is contingent on the candidate’s commitment of the entire 10-week program. No exceptions will be made.

Required qualifications

  • Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship
  • Graduating August 2025 – May 2027
  • Preferred fields include bur not limited to: Marketing, Communications, English or related field
  • Intern must be able to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (May 30 – August 8, 2025)
  • US work authorization is required. Individuals needing visa sponsorship are not eligible.

  • Attention to detail: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all communications.
  • Team player: A collaborative approach and willingness to work as part of a team to achieve common goals.

Compensation

Internship compensation ranges depend on each individual’s level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role.

 

Hourly Based Pay Range:
Min: $22.00/hour
Max: $35.00/hour

What to Expect Next
