Job Description

Job Title: Lead Consultant K-12 Special Education

About Ignite Child Development Services and TCEC

Ignite Child Development Services is proudly owned by Twin Cities Education Consultants (TCEC), a mission-driven organization committed to improving student outcomes by placing highly skilled special education teachers, mental health professionals, and consultants in school districts across Minnesota and Wisconsin. With a proven track record of supporting educational systems and the children they serve, TCEC acquired Ignite to more deeply align educational impact and clinical care. We are excited to bring TCEC’s high-quality, school-based services to Wisconsin under the Ignite name—expanding access, integration, and excellence in early intervention and autism services.

Position Overview

As the Lead Consultant K-12 Special Education , you will serve a dual role—providing high-level consulting services to K-12 schools and districts while also leading and mentoring a team of consultants. You will utilize your expertise in special education to improve the effectiveness and impact of school-based services, ensuring students with disabilities receive the support they need. This role includes building and managing a growing team of consultants to deliver high-quality services, and facilitating collaboration with school staff and administrators to enhance student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert consulting services to K-12 schools and districts, helping them optimize their special education programs and support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Build and oversee a team of consultants, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development to ensure high-quality, consistent service delivery.
  • Collaborate with school staff, administrators, and families to create effective strategies for supporting students with disabilities, including behavioral and academic support.
  • Lead IEP meetings, ensuring all necessary services, accommodations, and modifications are being provided in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance records for all services provided, maintaining adherence to all relevant laws and standards.
  • Provide support in due process matters, including facilitating mediation, resolution meetings, and addressing parent-school concerns.
  • Stay informed on special education laws, best practices, and emerging trends to guide both consulting work and team development.
  • Assist in integrating clinical services with educational strategies, particularly in early intervention and autism services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Licensed Special Education Teacher (or ability to obtain licensure within the specified timeline).
  • Proven experience working in K-12 special education settings, with a deep understanding of IEPs, special education laws, and instructional strategies.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with experience managing or mentoring a team of professionals.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including educators, families, and administrators.
  • Expertise in evaluation testing, IEP development, compliance, and special education law.
  • Experience with autism spectrum disorder and early intervention services is a plus.
  • Familiarity with due process requirements and procedural safeguards, including facilitating mediation and resolving formal complaints.

Why Ignite Child Development Services & TCEC?

  • Join a mission-driven organization that is dedicated to improving educational outcomes for students.
  • Enjoy autonomy in your role while being supported by a strong, collaborative team.
  • Competitive salary and benefits, including payment for all billable hours.
  • Professional growth opportunities with access to TCEC’s broad network of resources and support.
  • Flexible work schedule, allowing you to balance your professional and personal priorities.
