Position Overview

We are seeking an entry-level Legal Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting our current staff in both civil litigation and workers' compensation. The ideal candidate will be ready to contribute to our firm's success by handling general office clerical work and performing new client intakes.  This position is hybrid and will require you to come into the office. Therefore, you must live in the greater San Diego area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares legal forms, documents, and correspondence for legal filings with the appropriate Workers Compensation Appeals Board and Civil Courts and ensures documentation for service upon appropriate parties is thorough, accurate, and timely forwarded.
  • Coordinates depositions, meetings, medical-legal appointments, and exams.
  • Ability to answer the phone, take messages and route calls.
  • Timely prepares and organizes new legal files, maintains files throughout the course of litigation, and timely closes upon completion.
  • Organizes and files incoming mail.
  • E-filing experience in California, both State and Federal court is a plus.
  • Maintain attorneys’ calendars by planning and scheduling meetings, depositions, mediations, teleconferences.
  • Have the ability to communicate with outside law firms to schedule depositions and other meetings as needed.
  • Proof and finalize correspondence, pleadings, discovery, motions, and prepare routine shells using firm’s Case Management System.
  • Ability to prepare and file pleading documents and discovery documents while consulting with the attorney.
  • Record and track deadlines through docketing and calendar system.

  • Time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Requires the ability to work 40 Hours a week M-F 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required.
