Job Description

TekPro Engineering is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer with direct experience designing Railroad Construction Equipment immediately! This is a direct hire permanent position that is looking to be very competitive with pay.

Position Title: Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components for railroad construction and maintenance equipment
• Create and revise 3D models, detailed drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
• Conduct engineering analysis (stress, fatigue, FEA, etc.) to ensure designs meet structural and safety requirements
• Collaborate with manufacturing and field service teams to ensure designs are feasible, manufacturable, and serviceable
• Participate in prototype assembly, field testing, and design validation
• Drive continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives in existing designs
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company design practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with at least 2 years specifically in railroad construction equipment or related heavy equipment
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or Autodesk Inventor
• Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, structural steel design, and weldments
• Experience with GD&T, FEA, and engineering change processes
• Familiarity with ANSI, AAR, and other relevant industry standards
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and team collaboration abilities
