Site Safety Officer - Commercial/Industrial Construction
Location: Porterville, CA (On-site)
About The Role A growing commercial and industrial construction firm is seeking a
Site Safety Officer to support a large-scale construction project. The Site Safety Officer will ensure a safe and compliant work environment, implement safety protocols, and support project quality standards.
Job Summary The Site Safety Officer will monitor and enforce safety procedures, identify hazards, implement controls, conduct training, and ensure compliance with OSHA, company policies, and project-specific safety standards. The role may also include quality control inspections and reporting.
Key Responsibilities - Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits; document hazards and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Assist with subcontractor onboarding and site-specific safety orientation.
- Enforce company safety policies and project-specific safety requirements.
- Maintain and update the site-specific safety plan and related documentation.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA and applicable regulations.
- Participate in job hazard analyses (JHAs), toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
- Assist with incident and near-miss investigations; support root cause analysis.
- Provide training on PPE, fall protection, and other safety topics.
- Maintain accurate safety records, including inspections, training, incident reports, and permits.
- Support collaboration between project managers, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through daily engagement and hazard recognition.
- Conduct and document quality control inspections as needed.
- Assist with site reporting and documentation (logs, photos, safety metrics).
- Support emergency response planning and drills.
Qualifications - Experience in construction safety or related field roles.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety best practices in commercial/industrial construction.
- OSHA 30-Hour and First Aid/CPR certifications preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and observational abilities.
- Able to walk large job sites, climb ladders, and inspect construction environments; lift up to 75 lbs occasionally.
- Self-starter able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoDesk, or Procore is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.
