Job Title: Technical Writer – SOP Development (Contract)

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and moderately technical Technical Writer to join our team on a 6-month contract basis. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing, grammatical, and formatting skills, and will be responsible for creating and reviewing detailed step-by-step Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new or junior staff. These SOPs will be critical in ensuring processes can be easily understood by both interns and engineers for automation with minimal questions. The role will focus on finalizing approximately 200 SOPs that are mostly completed but require meticulous review for accuracy and clarity.
Key Responsibilities: - Review and refine existing SOPs to ensure accuracy, clarity, and ease of understanding for various stakeholders, including interns and technical staff.
- Create step-by-step documentation that is simple, clear, and actionable for users with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Work closely with engineers and other technical teams to ensure documentation is aligned with system requirements and can be easily handed off for automation.
- Ensure all SOPs follow consistent formatting and grammatical standards to promote clarity and usability.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information, clarify technical processes, and translate complex concepts into simple instructions.
- Conduct thorough quality checks of the SOPs to identify any potential gaps in the documentation and make necessary revisions.
- Assist with the organization and maintenance of SOP templates, ensuring all documents are standardized and easily accessible.
- Provide feedback to teams regarding any gaps or improvements needed in the documentation process.
Qualifications: - Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in technical writing, with a strong focus on creating SOPs and user manuals.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in the casino or hospitality industries is preferred but not required. Experience with Information Security or similar technical environments is a plus.
Skills: - Strong ability to create clear and concise step-by-step documentation for non-technical users.
- Proficient in technical writing tools and software (e.g., MS Word, Confluence, MadCap Flare).
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistent formatting and grammatical standards.
- Ability to quickly learn complex technical concepts and translate them into simple, understandable instructions.
- Collaboration: Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, SMEs, and other teams to gather information and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Adaptability: Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Skills: - Experience creating SOPs for technical teams and ensuring the documents are easily digestible for a wide audience, including new interns and technical engineers.
- Familiarity with Information Security concepts or working in similar technical environments.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Office, Jira, or project management tools is a plus.
