Position: Temporary Mortgage Underwriter
Hours: Full-Time, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST (with unpaid break)
Location: Remote- Must reside in GA, TN, AK, AR, FL, TX

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Temporary Mortgage Underwriter to join our team on a full-time basis. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a critical role in assessing and evaluating mortgage loan applications to ensure they meet company guidelines and regulatory requirements. This position requires extensive experience in manually underwriting loans.

Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze mortgage loan applications to assess risk and ensure compliance with company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Verify accuracy and completeness of loan documentation and financial information.
• Conduct thorough analysis of borrower credit, income, assets, and collateral.
• Make sound underwriting decisions and provide clear explanations for loan approvals or denials.
• Communicate effectively with loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and facilitate timely loan closings.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry regulations and underwriting guidelines.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Mortgage Underwriter with expertise in manually underwriting loans.
• In-depth knowledge of mortgage lending practices, guidelines, and regulations.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work efficiently and independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification or designation in mortgage underwriting (e.g., NAMP Certified Mortgage Underwriter, CMU).
• Experience working with Encompass or similar loan origination software.
• Familiarity with FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional loan programs.
• Most recent experience must have been as a front line Underwriter
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and Drug test.
• Experience working remotely and managing time effectively.
• Knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional loan programs.

Duration: This position is temporary, with an expected duration of 4 months with possibility of perm. The working hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday, with an unpaid break.
